Okay so you’ve found your pad and found your housemates, but not everyone your moving in with is going to be in sync with your way of thinking and living. So, whats the best solution if you have your own personal nightmare as a house mate?

Talk it out

Pop the kettle on and get the biscuits out. Having a chat is the best way to air out all of your problems in a safe forum. We know it can be difficult to move away from home, so airing out problems will make a nicer atmosphere for you and your housemates to enjoy your new home.

Houston we have a problem

So, you’ve tried to talk it out and things have gotten worse! Don’t worry no-one wants to start a shouting match especially when you’ve all got the stresses of uni life to worry about. Sometimes it’s a good idea to give your housemate a bit of space. Have them mull over their own concerns so you can both pretty much get over what’s both been bothering you!

Sign on the dotted…

It may seem a bit out there… but having a set contract for you and your housemates is a good way to set some house rules from the get go. Hash out a rota for washing the dishes and taking out the rubbish and set some ground rules for when you or your house mates can have guests over. After all you want to feel at home in your new pad and not have the sofa taken up by new faces!

Avoid arguments with shared bills

Our ‘What Students Seek Survey’ has found that 1 in 4 students have already argued over bills! Glide prevent housemate arguments by having an equal share bill, which is billed to each tenant individually. We’ll take away the headache of admin and chasing money off your housemates so you can all live your best uni life!

No matter what happens, it’s always best to remember that they’re going through the same hardships as yourself, moving away is a difficult time and sometimes that can lead to being a difficult person.
