If any group can be described as trying to burn the candle at both ends, it is surely students.

No surprise then that there’s a Wick at Both Ends pub in Sheffield, which is where we took a group of over 30 Sheffield students who had just sorted out their student digs for next academic year.

If living out isn’t scary and exciting enough, then having to pay bills for the first time sure has the potential to turn it into a horror story – especially when one of the housemates doesn’t pay up or someone argues they’ve used less heating!

Glide was set up seven years ago by two University of Birmingham students to solve just that kind of a problem – and to take the hassle out of shared bills in student digs.

That’s why they still love to hear from the horses’ mouth what the issues are when it comes to student living and whether those who are Glide customers are happy!

So we invited some students from Sheffield to come meet up with us, have a chat and take advantage of the free food and drink that was on offer.  And didn’t they just!

It ended up as our largest Drawing Board sessions yet as the students showed up in abundance, cocktails were in free flow, about 10 sampled partridge for the first time and one lucky student won free broadband for a year!

Lauren, Mark and Claire from our Drawing Board session gurus ORB managed to control the group to a degree and keep everyone engaged and throwing their ideas at us – though it did make for some very sore throats the next day.

Thankfully, the session was a huge success and Gliders Rich, Andy and Tyler were able to hear loud and clear what the students of Sheffield wanted to see happening.

So too was Linda Danson from the university housing team, who said it was the most fascinating insight into the pet likes and hates of student living.
