Tuition fees aside, students are facing pretty frightening money worries that only get worse with each passing year.
With rents soaring while grants and loans remain more or less the same, it seems as if the university system is expecting the Bank of Mum and Dad to make up the difference.
But what happens when your parents can’t or won’t help you out? Is juggling work and study the only way to get by? How easy is it to find part time jobs anyway?
Here at Glide we love employing students and we have a team of student ambassadors.
Part time, flexible work will help some students solve their money problems but it isn’t the answer for everyone and in what’s been dubbed the worst recession in decades, there just aren’t that many employers out there looking for students (or anyone else).
According to the results of a poll by Student Money Saver, 91 per cent of students are more concerned about their day-to-day costs than repaying their tuition fees after they graduate.
This statistic alone suggests that the majority of students haven’t found part-time work and can’t ask their parents to top up their bank account.
So what’s the answer? We would love to hear what you think. Do you have enough money to cover your rent, bills and living costs?
