During freshers week this year we teamed up with Accommodation for Students to heroically drive an ice cream van hundred of miles around the country to hand out free frozen treats.
For students new and old, freshers week tends to be a combination of ridiculous excitement and complete bewilderment. Glide and AFS exist to make student life as stress-free as it should be. As in any walk of life, once you’ve got a roof over your head, the heating on and a cup of tea in your hand you might think you’ve got everything you’ll ever need. Well for us, life just isn’t complete without free ice cream.
We drove day and night, through thick and thin, across England’s most perilous country roads and battled our way through England’s most extreme Autumn weather on a mission to get free ice cream into the hands of students across the country.
Despite such an obviously treacherous journey, our heroism miraculously prevailed and we successfully handed out free ice cream to more than 15,000 students across England and Wales.
Driving from Cardiff to Sheffield and back to London we whipped up tonnes of frozen magic in a bid to brighten student’s days and spread the gospel of of Glide and AFS.
We laughed, we sang and had an absolute blast meeting so many happy lovely people. In fact, it was so much fun, we’re going to do it all over again. Obviously, with most of the country bearing near Arctic temperatures at the moment, handing out free ice cream would just be plain silly so we want to know what food would you like us to gallantly dish up? Mulled wine and a mince pie? Hot chocolate and a doughnut? No suggestion is out of the question. Just leave us your ideas below and we’ll report them back to hero HQ.
