On the evening of Friday 4th December, Gliders danced the night away as they celebrated the festive season with their first office-based Christmas party at Glide HQ…
Resident DJ and credit controller, Jake, brought his decks up to the 25th floor of Alpha Tower, as he set up ready to entertain Gliders for the night with a killer playlist and a set good enough to get the summer crowds of Zante going.
The Christmas celebrations kicked off with fun and games which included table tennis and beer pong, whilst the drink began to flow from a rather well stocked fridge of prosecco and beer. A tower of pizzas also arrived to feed the hungry bunch, along with a special delivery from Mr Cheesecake himself, who left a selection of sweet treats ready to be polished off by the team.
There was even a special VIP area cornered off within the office, furnished with a sofa and a drinks trolley (essential, of course), courtesy of Glide’s Compliance Manager, Dan, who was serving up his signature gin and tonics to those important enough to make it in.
The evening carried on well into the night with more dancing to traditional party classics like the Cha Cha Slide, Saturday Night and the Macarena, which was beautifully led by Glider Anita, who stormed the dance floor with her best moves.
The annual Glide Awards were then presented to members of the team who have really stood out this year at Glide. Glider Alex Back took home the award for ‘Sales person of the year’ after a successful year of selling over 2015.
The Customer Retention team picked up the award for ‘Department of the year’ while the ‘Life Made Simple’ award went to Glide’s most helpful member and IT developer Tom Jordan.
Finally, the big one that everybody was waiting for, ‘Hero of the Year’ was awarded to head of broadband support, Jon Dunne.
After a couple of hours of some questionable shape-throwing by the team, the party then moved onto the final location, when everyone made their way over to Mechu – an old favourite hang-out spot for Gliders, conveniently situated around the corner from the office.
The party carried on into the early hours of Saturday morning, with more drinking and dancing as the festive celebrations were in full swing…
