Last week, we welcomed 15 year old, school boy Luke to the Glide family to complete 1 week work experience with us. We were excited to bring him on board and it was great to see how eager he was to learn and understand the business at such a young age! As we are dedicated to both self and professional development at Glide, we were glad to play a part in Luke’s professional experience which will be valuable when he leaves school…fingers crossed he’ll come back and work with us!
We had a chat with Luke to see how he got on, see what he has to say here;
Why have you chosen to do work experience with us at Glide?
I chose to do some work experience at glide during my Easter hols because I wanted to get a feel of what it would be like to work in an office, at Glide it isn’t a normal office, it is a relaxing and fun environment where you get a good feeling, that you wouldn’t get in other offices.
What have you been up to during your week with us?
Whilst at glide I have spent time in the different departments from marketing through to finance and have learnt so much from each one, which will no doubt be useful when I get a bit older.
Tell us what you have learnt?
I’ve learnt a whole range of things at glide, because I got to spend time with everyone and see what they do on a daily basis. I’ve also learnt how to answer a call in customer support and design my own web site, it has been so exciting- work definitely doesn’t have to be boring.
So, Have we changed your mind about working within an office environment?
Glide have definitely changed my mind on what an office can be like, everyone gets along and supports each other, when I first came in they all made me feel very welcome to be part of the Glide family. I was also taken to Nandos which I thought was just brilliant, they were also impressed that I could eat 10 hot chicken wings all to myself. Adding to that we went on an Easter egg hunt throughout the office which everyone loved, the best part was, I won!
Would you come back to Glide?
I would definitely come back to Glide because of how nice everyone was and it is such a great working environment, even for a 15 year old and I would definitely recommend Glide, especially for always trying to do what’s best for the costumer and helping them out to the best of their abilities, they genuinely care.
All in all with the fun loving nature that Glide shows it was a pleasure to join them for a week, I had so much fun and can’t wait to come back again!
We are so pleased Luke enjoyed his work experience with us, he seemed to settle in pretty quick and had no problems joining in on the banter!
