Halloween’s creeping up with only a week to go, so it’s time to start thinking about costumes, the only problem is money is still a bit short because the majority of it went on Freshers week, right? To help you keep costs low, we have 10 ideas for you to look the part on a budget…
1.Jigsaw
Grab yourself some face paint and if you haven’t got one, rummage through your friends wardrobes for a blazer and shirt then head to Primark for a red bow tie (£3.99), once you’ve put the pieces together you have the ultimate Jigsaw.
2. Sheet Ghost…BOO!!
This requires minimal effort but it’s a classic! The only effort required is cutting two holes in a sheet, viola you have a costume in 2 minutes. Great for when you’re in a rush or have left it to the last minute. Check you have an old sheet lying about first, you can always buy a new sheet for less than a tenner.
3. The Mummy
This costume is more fun than anything! All you need is a few packs of toilet roll and you and your mates can go to town with wrapping each other up, just make sure you wear something underneath!!
4. The Dead Celebrity
From Michael Jackson to Amy Winehouse, there are various celebs you can choose from through the years! Ebay sell some awesome dead celebrity costumes for less than £25. Jazz it up a bit with some fake blood to look even more scary!
5. Skeleton
Put your creative skills to use with some white and black face paint. If you need some inspiration, check out ‘How to’ videos on Youtube which you show you how to create the perfect look.
6. The Clown
Clown around with your mates this Halloween, this dress up is a classic. All it requires is face painting a big smile on your face, with effective eye make up that you can buy for just £1.29 off Ebay.
7. The Zombie
A go to for most guys at uni and great for creating a cheap costume. All it requires is a white tee and lots of fake blood, you could even pass this off as a dead person costume.
8. Pumpkin
You can go two ways with this, either paint your whole body orange, or just customize an orange item of clothing. Either way, you can make this costume look great on a low budget.
9. The Cute Cat
If in doubt, turn to the cute cat! This was my go to at uni! I used eyeliner and red lipstick to create whiskers and cat eyes, wore all black and even wore black socks on my hands for paws. A super easy and cheap option.
10. Mimes
Double up with your pal for the ultimate mime effect, pick up a striped top from Primark for £7, paint your face white and add some rosy cheeks.
There’s no need to fork out loads of money on creating the best Halloween costume, you can create some effective looks with the ideas above which mainly involve face paint and fake blood!
