So first year is done and dusted, you’ve made new friends, found all the student hot spots and got to grips with having to cook your own meals. First year was great, but believe it or not, second year is so much better.

Here’s a few reasons why.

You get to CHOOSE who you live with…

By now you’ve already rounded up your wolf pack so it’s a no brainer that these guys are going to be your roomies.

Peer pressure is a thing of the past..

You’ve said yes to every night out in first year, but through time you learn to say no, no hangover means you don’t miss lectures!!

You’re used to being poor!

Your card declining in Tesco’s is no longer a shock because by now you realise you’re a poor student therefore have come to terms with having to budget.

You’re not a loner…

You’ve made your friends, so you don’t have to hangout with people who aren’t on your wave length just so you don’t look like billy no mates!

You get to torment the 1st years

Well not literally, but if you’re in a society then you’re not the one being tormented with initiations, you finally get the power!

You understand your course, finally!

Gone are the days where you’ve sat there questioning what you’re even doing at uni, hopefully you should understand your modules a bit better by now.

Your quality of work improves

This is no lie, if you compare your 1st year assignments to your 2nd, you look like you’ve gone straight from nursery to university, the difference is shocking!

You’re enjoying living away from home

We all get home sick, some more than others. But you will feel more settled, no longer feeling the need to go home every weekend.

You’ve actually got your own washing machine

You’re living the dream in your student house, away from halls of residence so no more taking months of washing home to your parents or not washing your stuff at all!

Bills become less confusing

Now you’re in your student house, you’ll need to start paying bills which means you begin to understand the process. To make it even easier and less confusing there’s Glide, who split the bills into one even monthly payment for you and your housemates.

Go and enjoy your second year, you’ll find these are far too accurate when you look back at the end of the year.

If you’ve completed 2nd year and have experienced these, let us know on Twitter.
