Exams are coming up, panic mode is kicking in and you are convinced that you’re going to fail! Starting your revision early is giving yourself the best possible chance of doing well.
Not everyone is good at revision, I definitely struggled, especially when there was a million other things i’d have preferred to be doing.
My best advice is to find a way to revise that works for you. I tried a few things to give me the best possible chance which i’m going to share with you here;
Draw up a revision plan and list all of the topics that you need to study for, including the dates for each exam. Ideally you need to start revising 6 weeks before your first one.
Think about how you work best some people prefer to work in quiet spaces whilst others like to work in busier environments. Make sure you’re revising in an environment that is comfortable for you. I found revising alone with quiet music in the background helped me.
SLEEP!! Feel fresh by catching some early nights. Going to bed late and waking up late can make you feel pretty rough and you’re less likely to feel motivated to get work done.
Find past papers! Reading over past papers gives you an idea of the type of questions that may pop up and how they are formatted. Getting used to the style is good prep for smashing your own exam too.
Get Quizzed, once you feel like you’ve done enough revision, ask your housemates to quiz you on some of the questions, the ones you get wrong, go back and study.
Post it notes EVERYWHERE! This was the best method of revision for me. Jot down everything you need to remember and stick them everywhere, your room, the fridge, the TV, go crazy!
Take breaks every 20-30 mins, take 5, then half hour for lunch. By revising for shorter spells you’ll maintain your concentration…and it gives your brain a rest too!
Hopefully these tips come in handy and you sail through your exams.
Don’t forget..you got this!!!
