Our Business Development Executive Will who covers B2B sales in Wales and the South West is moving on to his next venture, which means we are on the lookout for his replacement. The next Business Development Executive must be a real target driven, go getter, with a positive attitude towards developing sales. We’re also a pretty sociable team too, so if you’d like to get involved then apply by sending your CV to jobs@glide.co.uk

To get some insight into how Will has found his role with Glide, we asked him a couple of questions about his experience with us, here’s what he said;

Tell us a bit about your role and what is involved?

I work within Glide’s Business Development team covering B2B Sales of Landlords and Letting agents with a portfolio of student houses, in the Wales and South West patch. My role consisted of developing and sustaining relationships and helping businesses maximise on their opportunities which in turn means lots of picturesque drives around the country and very varied days which all add to the fun!

I’ve also been able to develop my networking and presentation skills and had a chance to present to 40+ landlords at the RLA in Cardiff. I’ve eaten loads of sweets at University housing fairs and had some great training/away days with plenty of interesting office nights out.

 What has been the most memorable/enjoyable project you’ve worked on?

I think being able to develop Aberystwyth has been very satisfying, as we hadn’t really been in Aber before, it’s been a fun challenge bringing a small handful of agents on board and turning Aber into glide territory!

What has been the most difficult part of the role?

The new variable speed limit on the M4..

That aside I suppose it would be having to change my style slightly within meetings and on the phone etc with clients and not afraid to be blunt at times. The hours can be long and the role does involve a lot of driving, but that is easily made up for by all of the coffee and cakes I get to have when meeting clients.

What have you learned during your time here?

A huge amount with regards to sales, the process and being able to be persistent without being too much of a pain in the backside! I’ve learnt how to build relationships with clients too and also gained vast knowledge on the utilities industry which I didn’t really know much about prior to this role. Overall, this role has given me an amazing experience and I will take a lot from what I gained to my next role.

 What will I miss about Glide?

In all honesty a lot! It’s a great place to work with great people and one of the most supportive businesses I’ve ever worked for and I’ll always be thankful for the time I’ve had here and the opportunities that I’ve taken! I couldn’t have asked for a better team too and what’s great is the team get rewarded for hitting target, we all went paint balling last month which was great fun and brilliant for team bonding/building.

What is your next role?

I’ll be moving onto a Property Solutions business based in Bristol, which is still part of a Business Development team. Along side this I’m studying to pass my financial exams with a view of taking that on once qualified.

I just want to thank Glide and everyone in it, I’ll really miss working here and the team who I have built some amazing friendships with.
