Halloween has come around again, and yet again you’re scrambling for some last minute, cheap and fast costume ideas! We’re here to help you with some classic DIY costume ideas to get you in the Halloween spirit! 

Lidl Mermaid

An ingenious and quintessentially British costume, who doesn’t love a good pun! After completing your weekly shop at Lidl, grab the leftover bags and fashion into a nautical tale and become a stunning siren of the party!

Toilet Roll Mummy

A classic staple of Halloween on a budget and one that every student should try, it’s cheap and quick to make. Simply get one of your housemates to wrap around toilet roll until you transform into an un-dead toilet roll monster.

Kaonashi aka No Face

If you’re a fan of Japaense animation you can make a simple, easy and cheap costume of No Face (Kaonashi) from Miyazaki’s cherished film; Spirited Away. All you’ll need is a couple of black bin bags, white card and a Sharpie!

Bottle Rocket Pack

A simple and effective costume to make! You will need 2x plastic bottles (grey ones will be most effective if not, spray them silver) Tape them together then attach to an old back pack. If you’re feeling extra creative, buy some yellow and red paper tissue to create a fire effect.

Cardboard Robot

Jump into your recycling bin and emerge as a cardboard box robot! You will need to fashion scrap cardboard boxes and card into a clunky old fashion looking robot. Just make sure you do the robot on the dance floor!
