Our Senior Account Manager Grace is leaving for her next venture, Grace began her career with Glide seven years ago and has been a massive part in getting Glide to where it is now and will be truly missed.

Tell us a bit about your role and what is involved?

My current role is Senior Account Manager. This means that I look after our top 10 largest clients, act as a point of escalation for other clients, and manage the Account Management and B2B Customer Service team members. My role can be hugely different day to day! Some days I’ll have my headphones in working away in reporting for clients, I may be on the phone trying to organise smart meter installations, out meeting clients (and sometimes taking them for a drink!).

What has been the most memorable/enjoyable project you’ve worked on?

I think setting up the Business Team (with Jess and Dave) was my favourite. There were other people involved who have now moved on, and there are some new faces in the team! This really changed the way we treat our business customers, and also helped to form the really successful Monday morning meetings between the Account Managers and B2B Billers.

What has been the most difficult part of the role?

The most difficult part of the role is definitely delivering bad news. This can be really tough, especially if it’s something that you know the client will feel disappointed in. The best way to delivery any bad news is always to try and be on the clients side, you need to really understand the impact this may have on them and their business. It also helps if you can come up with some possible solutions or alternatives.

What have you learned during your time here?

I’ve learnt a billion and one things about energy! I’ve also learnt how important it is that you get on with your colleagues and you really work together. Having friends at work makes your days go really fast, it can really help on tough days, and makes you happy to come to work. I’ve really understood how important it is to have a strong team around you – you need people you can rely on, and people that you know will pull together and help each other out.

What will I miss about Glide?

The people. Glide was my first job after leaving university and I couldn’t have asked for a better bunch to spend it with. I’m also really grateful for the opportunities and responsibilities I’ve been given along my journey.

What is your next role?

I’m going to work for Mondelez (Cadbury). I’ll be working as a Project Manager – so helping chocolate get from an idea in someone’s head to a product on the shelf!
