16th September 2020: Glide, a leader in utilities and broadband connectivity has today announced a win of the EG Tech Award for Infrastructure beating some very tough competition for the prize at this year’s ceremony.
Estates Gazette is a keen champion of the growth of technology in the real estate market and their annual tech awards has become a key event in the awards season. This year, the awards ceremony was virtual with guests hosted in a slick digital ceremony on Thursday 10th September 2020. The Awards seek to boost those companies that embrace digital transformation and drive innovation in the real estate market, so it’s especially thrilling to win in a time where, according to Tech Editor Emily Wright, “drive for change has never been so important”.
Commenting on the award win, Tim Pilcher, CEO of Glide said: “As everyone is aware, these have been a very challenging six months, which is why this award feels particularly special. Covid has shone the light on infrastructure, something many people have taken for granted and we’ve all come to rely on it more heavily than normal. We’re one of the few ISPs providing uncontended, guaranteed services and that’s become ever more useful over the last six months. We’ve always been committed to making our user experience as smooth and brilliant as possible and this award is a great testament to what we’ve been doing for the last three to four years.”
Glide’s fully invested and scalable national network reaches around 100,000 premises across the UK, holding the position as a UK leader in infrastructure solutions for difficult-to-serve markets. In 2019/20, Glide delivered uncontended, ultrafast, gigabit enabled, FTTP broadband to businesses through 650 fibre cabinets to over 450 business parks across the country. It’s network provides 1500km of uncontended fibre, operating in 60 towns and cities, with planned deployment to 11 new fibre cities in 2020 with unlimited speeds already available to SMEs in Coventry.
The Glide National Network was born 5 years ago, starting in London and Manchester. Since then, it’s enjoyed huge growth as clients have opted for Glide's superfast, reliable broadband services, making Glide the leading provider of complete connectivity services for student accommodation, serving over 350,000 students across 850 sites in the UK and Europe. With access to 60 BT exchanges across the UK, from Aberdeen to Plymouth, Glide can provide superfast, reliable broadband to most major metropolitan areas in the country. With access to exchanges in 90% of all student cities, Glide currently has around 850 student sites directly connected to our network.
Pilcher continues “As a business, we are very proud of our network and the benefits it brings to our customers. In the last twelve months, we’ve tripled the size of our network, delivering a 10x speed-boost to key exchanges, which means more connectivity in more locations. “We’d like to thank the judges - but we’d also like to thank our customers who continue to give us the impetus to build and expand our network and bring superfast, reliable broadband to sites across the country.”
